Family Business Australia and KPMG Enterprise Sign New 3 Year Agreement

KPMG Enterprise has signed a new, three year sponsorship agreement with Family Business Australia (FBA), the peak industry body representing this key business sector.

KPMG has a long and enduring involvement in family business enterprises and has been a National Sponsor of the FBA since 2005. The association between the two organisations is now approaching 12 years and this agreement highlights their shared commitment to the sustainability of the family business segment in Australia and the important contribution it makes to society and the economy.

Over this time, the collaboration between FBA and KPMG has resulted in lasting initiatives, including the influential biennial Family Business Survey. Together with FBA and in collaboration with the University of Adelaide’s Family Business Education and Research Group (FBERG), this is the longest-running Australian Survey of its kind and the insights gained have helped:

  • Influence the political landscape and it is one of the most widely referenced surveys by media and policy makers;
  • Establish the Family and Small Business Ombudsman;
  • Inform lobbying at numerous Senate inquiries;
  • Develop a greater awareness of this sector’s contribution and importance; and
  • Develop Family Business Australia’s membership offerings.

Greg Griffith, CEO, Family Business Australia said: “With over 2000 members, Family Business Australia speaks for almost half a million businesses and 50 per cent of the Australian workforce. We are delighted that KPMG’s ongoing support will assist in our continued contribution to the long-term success of this valuable business sector.”

KPMG Enterprise Melbourne Partner-in-Charge, Dom Pelligana, added: “KPMG has actively supported the family business segment for a number of decades. We truly believe that the unique quality of family businesses make them in many ways the optimal business model. Our purpose therefore is to harness our passion for and deep expertise in this sector with FBA’s dedicated work to ensure the continued performance and sustainability of Australian family businesses.”

The next Family Business Survey will be in market from late June – end of July and the results will be published early in 2018.
