Over the last few months I have gained great insight into the unique challenges that family businesses face. But what has struck me most is how well they overcome these challenges. I have observed that leaders of successful family businesses know their strengths and recognise when to seek help from others external to the business. They use forum groups and professional networks to work through issues, build connections and keep an eye on the bigger picture. Most of all, they are passionate about what they do and intent on making their family business prosper. It is incredibly inspiring.

The annual Hall of Fame recognises family businesses who have demonstrated these qualities and we look forward to inducting two iconic South Australian family businesses at the gala dinner ceremony in November. This is the highlight of the FBA calendar. For more info click here.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Grant Paech last month. As the founder of Beerenberg, Grant was instrumental in building an iconic Australian family business and a wonderful success story. Beerenberg was inducted into the Family Business Hall of Fame in 2010 and since that time has continued to grow and break new ground.  Our thoughts are with the Paech family and staff of Beerenberg at this sad time.
