It seems surreal although I’m sure reality will strike as I write the last SA Chairman’s note after six years in the role, time has flown since Phil Sims handed the baton on to me and what a time it has been!

I’ve certainly learnt a lot more about best practice with Family Business, I don’t think there is any situation now that I have not seen, not that I have the answers for them all, but I definitely can appreciate these unique challenges. I have met some truly wonderful and inspiring people and can say with confidence that I’ve grown professionally as I’ve worked in this role.

Working with other committed people, engaging with government, media and the many supporters of the sector has also been a highlight. I leave behind a committee stacked with ideas and enthusiasm, and will remain engaged as immediate past chairman on the committee to help as required.

I look forward to fresh opportunities in 2016 and wish each and everyone one of you a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and profitable new year!
